New Leadership

November 05, 2009

Now that the AGM is over and the dust is slowly settling, the new Leadership and Executive of our Party are busy identifying and prioritizing the tasks necessary for the smooth transitioning from the former team, as well as what systems are in place now, and what systems need to be put in place for the continuing day to day operation of the Party.  A large part of this transitioning and systems analysis is determining compliance with our brand new Constitution and By-Laws that were adopted at the AGM.  There are many changes and it is better to get it right the first time rather than having to go back and fix it later.  We ask for your patience and your input in these matters.

I would personally like to thank the outgoing Leadership and Executive for their hard work over the past year.  It’s not until one gets into the centre of things that one realizes the challenges these people faced on our behalf, and that they got as far as they did is a testament to their dedication to the Party.

One of my personal goals this year is the putting in place of a Shadow Cabinet.  Portfolio critics will increase our public awareness of the Party and important issues.  There are currently nineteen cabinet positions in the government and covering all of them will be a challenge.  I am looking to you, the members of the Party, for ideas, inspiration and recommendations.  Feel free to email me at leader@greenparty.ns.ca

The Green Party of Nova Scotia exists to ensure that the topics that shape our future stay at the top of the political agenda. This will require a strong structural framework that will allow the organization to function at its full potential.  You have given this Executive and Leadership a strong mandate to do just that with your resounding endorsement, but your job does not end here.

I want to remind you all that your involvement is critical to our success.  I look forward to hearing your ideas so we may continue down our chosen path.
