Dayliner Rail Service in Nova Scotia

January 29, 2010

“The Green Party of Nova Scotia has long supported  passenger rail in this province," said John Percy, Leader of the Green Party of Nova Scotia, ”and we fully endorse the idea of integrating a dayliner rail commuter service, similar to the Go Transit system in Ontario, into the provinces’ overloaded and often times poorly maintained transportation system.  The Green Party of Nova Scotia policy advocates regular passenger services as well as extended tourist rail service during the tourist season.  In these troubled economic times it makes perfect sense to use and upgrade the existing infrastructure to its fullest potential. The dayliner cars are refurbished in Moncton and there is availability, and perhaps now there is also the political will to advance both a feasibility study and a pilot project.”

Mr Percy was responding to a suggestion from HRM Councillor Tim Outhit, to initiate a feasibility study on dayliner rail service between Truro and Halifax, with local stops along the way.
