Workshops Teach Farming Business From The Ground Up

Entrepreneurs interested in learning more about starting a farm business and farmers interested sharpening their business skills are encouraged to attend a From the Ground Up workshop being held in February and March.
The one-day workshop covers tips and strategies for running and growing a business, marketing, trends and technical practices,as shared by local farmers and other agriculture experts.
"Agriculture offers rewarding career choices," said Agriculture Minister John MacDonell. "There are many opportunities in Nova Scotia for farm entrepreneurs to create good jobs and grow the economy while making a sustainable living."
Six workshops will take place:
-- Feb. 14, Annapolis Basin Conference Centre, 761 Broadway Ave., Cornwallis Park
-- Feb. 15, Rodd Colony Harbour Inn, 6 Forest St., Yarmouth
-- Feb. 17, Coady Institute, St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish
-- Feb. 24, Debert Hospitality Centre, 130 Ventura Dr., Debert
-- March 3, Gaelic College, 51779 Cabot Trail Rd., Englishtown
-- March 24, Best Western Plus Hotel and Convention Centre, 527 Highway 10, Bridgewater
Mr. MacDonell said attracting new people into careers in agriculture is important to ensure Nova Scotia's agriculture industry stays sustainable.
