Riding: Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville
Candidate Name: Shawn Redmond
Born in Glen Margaret, Nova Scotia, Shawn Redmond is a lifelong resident of Halifax Regional Municipality. Self-employed for the best part of 25 years, he is an honest, hardworking man which a long list of loyal clients will attest. In the past, Shawn volunteered on various committees including the Wooden’s River Watershed Organization and the Five Island Lake Liaison Committee and also spent several years as a volunteer at the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History.
A strong belief in renewable energy and a personal responsibility to the environment, Shawn and Andrea, his wife of 28 years, built a solar and wind powered, off-grid home in 2006. With his talent in construction, Shawn built the house almost entirely on his own, calling in electricians and plumbers to finish out the house. Their passion for self-sufficiency includes a small farm and garden where they produce much of their own food.
The Redmond’s have a daughter, Emily, son-in-law, Mike and new grandson, Phinn. It’s the future of these generations that has led Shawn to the political forum. Shawn is firm in his belief that change in government is vital to bringing our communities into a livable, green space. He feels there’s great business potential for green energy, products and services. Shawn believes we must start at a very local level to bring meaningful change to the global environment.
